# Mistral 7B Instruct v0.1 - AWQ
- Model creator: [Mistral AI](https://huggingface.co/mistralai)
- Original model: [Mistral 7B Instruct v0.1](https://huggingface.co/mistralai/Mistral-7B-Instruct-v0.1)

## Description

This repo contains AWQ model files for [Mistral AI's Mistral 7B Instruct v0.1](https://huggingface.co/mistralai/Mistral-7B-Instruct-v0.1).

### About AWQ

AWQ is an efficient, accurate and blazing-fast low-bit weight quantization method, currently supporting 4-bit quantization. Compared to GPTQ, it offers faster Transformers-based inference.

### Mistral AWQs

These are experimental first AWQs for the brand-new model format, Mistral.

As of September 29th 2023, they are only supported by AutoAWQ (version 0.1.1+)

## Provided files, and AWQ parameters

For my first release of AWQ models, I am releasing 128g models only. I will consider adding 32g as well if there is interest, and once I have done perplexity and evaluation comparisons, but at this time 32g models are still not fully tested with AutoAWQ and vLLM.

Models are released as sharded safetensors files.

| Branch | Bits | GS | AWQ Dataset | Seq Len | Size |

## How to use this AWQ model from Python code

### Install the necessary packages

Requires:

- Transformers from [commit 72958fcd3c98a7afdc61f953aa58c544ebda2f79](https://github.com/huggingface/transformers/commit/72958fcd3c98a7afdc61f953aa58c544ebda2f79)
- [AutoAWQ](https://github.com/casper-hansen/AutoAWQ) from [commit 1c5ccc791fa2cb0697db3b4070df1813f1736208](https://github.com/casper-hansen/AutoAWQ/commit/1c5ccc791fa2cb0697db3b4070df1813f1736208).

```shell
pip3 install git+https://github.com/huggingface/transformers.git@72958fcd3c98a7afdc61f953aa58c544ebda2f79
pip3 install git+https://github.com/casper-hansen/AutoAWQ.git@1c5ccc791fa2cb0697db3b4070df1813f1736208
```

### You can then try the following example code

```python
from awq import AutoAWQForCausalLM
from transformers import AutoTokenizer
import torch
device = torch.device("cuda") if torch.cuda.is_available() else torch.device("cpu")
model_name_or_path = "TheBloke/Mistral-7B-v0.1-AWQ"
# Load model
model = AutoAWQForCausalLM.from_quantized(model_name_or_path, fuse_layers=True,
                                          trust_remote_code=False, safetensors=True, device=device)
tokenizer = AutoTokenizer.from_pretrained(model_name_or_path, trust_remote_code=False, device=device)
prompt = "Tell me about AI"
prompt_template=f'''{prompt}
'''
print("\n\n*** Generate:")
tokens = tokenizer(
    prompt_template,
    return_tensors='pt'
).input_ids.cuda()
# Generate output
generation_output = model.generate(
    tokens,
    do_sample=True,
    temperature=0.7,
    top_p=0.95,
    top_k=40,
    max_new_tokens=512
)
print("Output: ", tokenizer.decode(generation_output[0]))
"""
# Inference should be possible with transformers pipeline as well in future
# But currently this is not yet supported by AutoAWQ (correct as of September 25th 2023)
from transformers import pipeline
print("*** Pipeline:")
pipe = pipeline(
    "text-generation",
    model=model,
    tokenizer=tokenizer,
    max_new_tokens=512,
    do_sample=True,
    temperature=0.7,
    top_p=0.95,
    top_k=40,
    repetition_penalty=1.1,
    device=device
)
print(pipe(prompt_template)[0]['generated_text'])
"""
## Thanks, and how to contribute
Thanks to the [chirper.ai](https://chirper.ai) team!
Thanks to Clay from [gpus.llm-utils.org](llm-utils)!
I've had a lot of people ask if they can contribute. I enjoy providing models and helping people, and would love to be able to spend even more time doing it, as well as expanding into new projects like fine tuning/training.
If you're able and willing to contribute it will be most gratefully received and will help me to keep providing more models, and to start work on new AI projects.
Donaters will get priority support on any and all AI/LLM/model questions and requests, access to a private Discord room, plus other benefits.
# Original model card: Mistral AI's Mistral 7B Instruct v0.1
# Model Card for Mistral-7B-Instruct-v0.1
The Mistral-7B-Instruct-v0.1 Large Language Model (LLM) is a instruct fine-tuned version of the [Mistral-7B-v0.1](https://huggingface.co/mistralai/Mistral-7B-v0.1) generative text model using a variety of publicly available conversation datasets.
For full details of this model please read our [release blog post](https://mistral.ai/news/announcing-mistral-7b/)
## Instruction format
In order to leverage instruction fine-tuning, your prompt should be surrounded by `[INST]` and `[\INST]` tokens. The very first instruction should begin with a begin of sentence id. The next instructions should not. The assistant generation will be ended by the end-of-sentence token id.
E.g.
```python
from transformers import AutoModelForCausalLM, AutoTokenizer

device = "cuda" # the device to load the model onto

model = AutoModelForCausalLM.from_pretrained("mistralai/Mistral-7B-Instruct-v0.1")
tokenizer = AutoTokenizer.from_pretrained("mistralai/Mistral-7B-Instruct-v0.1")

text = "<s>[INST] What is your favourite condiment? [/INST]"
"Well, I'm quite partial to a good squeeze of fresh lemon juice. It adds just the right amount of zesty flavour to whatever I'm cooking up in the kitchen!</s> "
"[INST] Do you have mayonnaise recipes? [/INST]"

encodeds = tokenizer(text, return_tensors="pt", add_special_tokens=False)

model_inputs = encodeds.to(device)
model.to(device)

generated_ids = model.generate(**model_inputs, max_new_tokens=1000, do_sample=True)
decoded = tokenizer.batch_decode(generated_ids)
print(decoded[0])
```
## Model Architecture
This instruction model is based on Mistral-7B-v0.1, a transformer model with the following architecture choices:
- Grouped-Query Attention
- Sliding-Window Attention
- Byte-fallback BPE tokenizer
