I don't know why neither the status page nor the Twitter has been updated, but chat is down for everyone right now.
It's stuck on a screen that says "Preparing Space" and it has been that way for nearly 4 hours.
So, don't worry, you're not going crazy. It's actually just down and there's no way to know for how long.

As of 2/17, it's down again in the same way.
On my side it is down, but just about 5-10 mins.
